I love it when there's a hash event coming up. It means I can just talk about that in my intro instead of either (a) coming up with something original that may entertain the dimmer bulbs in the hash or (b) feel lame about posting links to things like videos of dogs pooping on babies.

Start: the grassy knoll at the corner of Ashby St and Potomac Ave, NW, just off of MacArthur Blvd.

**Public transportation:
Metro to either Farragut West (Blue and Oranage Line) or Farragut North (Red Line), and catch the 2:23pm D6 bus in the direction of Sibley Hospital from the service roadway at the corner of Connecticut Ave and K St, NW. Get off the bus one stop AFTER the Palisades Library and look for chalk to start. Don't forget to get a transfer pass before you get on the Metro and you only pay 25 cents for the bus. **Driving:
From Virginia:
Coming over the Key Bridge: take a left onto Canal Road/M St and vear to right when it becomes MacArthur Blvd. After passing Palisades CVS/Safeway/Library, look for Ashby St on your left.
Coming over Chain Bridge: right onto Canal lRoad, left onto Arizona Ave, then a right onto MacArthur Blvd. After passing Starbucks, Listranis, etc, look for Ashby road on your right.
From Maryland:
Take MacArthur Blvd into DC and then follow Chain Bridge directions.
Miscellaneous: A to A. Bring a dry bag. Runner's and walker's trails not stroller friendly. Tough dog friendly.

I don't usually open up my computer while on an airplane. (1) It's not really socially acceptable to watch porn when a sexagenarian (yes, it's a funny word) is reading over your shoulder and is probably aghast and confused at the offensive gibberish found merely on the weekly trail news. (2) If I break my computer out, I might feel guilty enough to do something to prepare for the meetings I'm going to. My ethic of laziness would be violated.
But I was inspired by the possibility of having TWO trail news in a row sent out on Thursday, so I got myself in to a hashing spirit by eating orange food supplied by Delta Airlines and giggling over the fact that "roasted peanuts" sounds like "roasted penis" when uttered over the intercom in calm, self-assured pilotspeak.
My favorite way to kill time while flying is to read the SkyMall catalog. Perhaps boredom combined with decreased air pressure makes otherwise sane people think, "Wow, that slanket is a great idea! Why didn't I think of creating a blanket with sleeves!" Or better yet, "If only there was a way to make sure my hot beverage would stay within spilling distance of my laptop. Wow, how about this USB travel mug!" Sadly, the mug with a clock glued to it costs more than the USB mug. Of course, nothing can beat the inanity of the SnacDaddy -- where the wings have no shame.

This Friday, November 16, head on down to the end of the yellow line for this month's Full Moon trail. 7pm, Huntington Metro. It would behoove you to remember that the hares are from OTH3, so 7pm is in real people time, not hasher time. Plan ahead! The end of the yellow line may be a long journey, but it's usually worth it when you get there.

Sniff. My tenure as hareraiser must be coming to an end - this week marks the second of two announcements wherein I remind you wankers of the Daylight Saving Time clock changes. Before you toddle off to bed Saturday night, set your alarm clock back an hour so that you'll arrive to the hash at the proper time on Sunday. Alternatively, if you "forget" about the time change, at least bring some malt liquor and a brown paper bag with you so you'll have something to do in the extra hour before the hash starts.
Another reminder - one of our hares this week, Rambutt, would like everyone to know that her name is one word, not two, nor it is a request. On the other hand, JOL's name is a request. He would like you to jack him off. The interpretation of hash names of the other hares is left as an exercise for the reader.
Thirdly and most importantly, BRING A FLASHLIGHT this week.

(Metro) Blue line towards Franconia-Springfield. Get off at Van Dorn Street Station and follow chalk to the lower end of the parking lot. Find the wankers and get your hash on.
(Driving) From pretty much anywhere in DC, NOVA, or MD: Get yourself to the beltway and take the exit for Van Dorn Street. Turn to the North (that would be a left turn for you!) and go under the beltway, turn right at the light for Eisenhower Ave. Take an immediate left by the metro station, the Park and Ride is right down there. Find the wankers and get your hash on.
Alternatively, you can take I-395 south to the Duke Street exit (3A)(towards Alexandria) and then take the exit for Van Dorn Street.
