WH4 Hash #1053 - Sunday, February 5, 3:00 PM – Vienna Metro

To demonstrate my commitment to my new job as Hare Raiser, I'm leaving town for two weeks. First, I'll be heading out to Durango, Colorado for some snowboarding. If you can't imagine me snowboarding, there's a lot of screaming, a lot of profanities, and I'm only up for about three minutes at a time. This also describes my sex life. Most gambling web sites are listing the odds of a Hokie injury at around 85%. I tried to plan ahead and called the Durango hospital to reserve a room in advance - they forwarded my call to the mental health ward. Bastards. I'll show them.

If you are going to be in town, what better way to watch the Super Bowl than with a bunch of hashers? The Hares have arranged for our own room at a great bar and have some great specials for us, so metro out to Vienna, run trail, and drink until you actually enjoy the halftime show. We're all hoping that none of Keith Richards' clothes come off.

From I66 West, take exit 62 for Vienna Nutley (I said nut again!). Take first exit ramp for Nutley Street South, and then bear right on ramp for Metro Parking. Turn right at end of ramp, and follow to the south parking garage.

I'd like to welcome you to a new year of hashing on behalf of the new 2006 MisManagement. May the year be filled with many foggy memories.

You may have noticed that the format of the announcement has changed a bit. Veteran Hareraiser and all around stud Put It Out suggested a random, raving format - similar to the Unabomber's Manifesto, only with less threatening references to modern society. Instead, you get my attempt at organization. You may also have noticed that we have a new website: http://www.whitehousehash.com. Now you can view your hash count from five months ago in a new and improved format!

Don't worry. Change is like anal sex. Things might seem a little weird at first, and may be downright sloppy. But with a little bit of mutual cooperation and just the right amount of lube, it can be a beautiful thing.

I woke up at around 3:00 in the morning on the last metro train in New Carrollton after failing to make the transfer to the red line. Once you get enough booze in you to significantly impair your judgment, grab a flashlight and make your way to the Incoming Mismanagement trail at 3:00 pm.

Hash #1049 -- January 15th, 2006 @ 3:00 PM -- Reston, VA

Let's all give thanks this week to our brew crew and various members of MM who kept themselves and yourselves out of trouble. Yes, we're the hash and, no, we don't have rules, but the communities we run in do have rules. Here are a few things to remember:

When haring:
- think about your locations for start, BC, and end. Near houses, schools, apartment buildings, populated areas, etc are usually BAD IDEAS.
- the closed section of Klingle is apparently getting a lot of scrutiny. Stay away from it for a while.

When hashing in general:
- obey laws and common sense. Don't pee in public or in places visible to the public. Don't dart across traffic when you don't have the light or right-of-way. When people ask who you are or what you're doing, "White House Hash" and "running for beer" are not the best answers. Feel free to invite your friends to the hash. Don't invite the guy driving the car you just cut off or the mom who is shielding the ears of her 5 year old.
- if officer friendly shows up:
- let brew crew or someone from MM talk to him. These people have some notion of how to handle the situation. Also, they haven't been drinking and probably smell more sober.
- if the appropriate people (see above) are already talking to the cops, leave them be. You have nothing extra to contribute. If the appropriate people are not aware that the cops have shown up, find the appropriate people.
- don't freak out and start running for the woods or dumping stuff. Just relax and continue doing what you were doing. Maybe sing a couple verses of Kumbaya. Writing us all up is a lot of work that no cop wants to do. Let brew crew / MM handle it and take direction from them or the cops. Don't freak out.
